I can’t believe it’s already been a month since my last post! With the new homeschooling scenario in the context of self isolation, it’s been a very busy time in our household and I had to put a few projects that I’ve been working on aside. This new reality did however push one idea to the top of my list that I have been meaning to do since the opening of my shop a year ago. As many of us are struggling with the stress or not knowing what’s coming up in the next few months, I have found a way to make the basic patch patterns you love easier to use and more affordable than ever.
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that all my patterns come in different sizes so that they can last for years as your children grow or if you have various styles of pants that need to be patched. But for the short term, it might not be necessary to have all these pattern sizes on hand when you need to mend your toddler’s jeans now. For this reason, I have broken down each basic pattern into it’s 5 individual sizes so you can download the pattern you need immediately for a fraction of the cost.
Choose your favorite style
The patterns currently available in individual sizes are the Curved Knee Patch and the Biker Patch which come in Adult and Kids Sizes.
Select the appropriate pattern size
Once you’ve selected the style you want, measure the width of the pants at the knee that you wish to fix. As shown in the image below, measure between each seam.
Then use the chart below to choose the appropriate pattern number to download. If the width isn’t identical, choose the one closest to your pants measurement but selecting the pattern that’s a bit wider than your jean’s leg.
Once you’ve selected the right style and size, download the PDF pattern and tutorial. Each individual pattern is only $2.50 (US). If you love the style and want to purchase all the sizes, they are still available as a bundle for $9.50 (US) with a bonus tutorial included on how to modify the pattern to either narrow or make it wider.
It will take about 2 hours to cut and apply the patches but so well worth the time when you think of the money you will save from buying a new pair of jeans, and the joy of knowing that your well loved pair will last for years to come.
Happy Mending!
I love your blog and think you’re just fantastic.
